i just bought sgt. peppers after all these years. for some reason, i hear the beatles albums as if i am hearing them for the first time, and am blown away.
they were mind-blowingly brilliant. the music never gets old or stale. this is a cover of the john lennon song from help! by eddie vedder. it was on the i am sam soundtrack, which had a bunch of beatles covers on it.
i was thinking the other day that i'd like a day in the life from sgt. pepper's to be played at my funeral.
funeral?? what made you think that?
did either of you ever go to dan g--'s funeral in college. i think you both may have graduated by then. he was definitely goofy and died suddenly of a heart murmer. anyway, his funeral was a mix of laughter and sadness, such a potent combination.
i think at my funeral, since we're on the subject, i'd want people to dance, maybe tell funny stories about me, or tell new jokes that i would have enjoyed.
interesting conversation about how our funerals/cremations? would be. i really don't know. for me, play some u2, gospel, sitar, south african music, native american and tibetan chants, and throw some chris rock in there too. c'mon help a brother out.
